The change we seek

Our Global Delivery

Together with our partners, we have supported over 1.3 million young people since The Trust was founded in 1976.
The UK remains the foundation of our delivery, and where we support the greatest number of young people.
Over the past decade, we have supported more than half a million young people, including 416,000 in the UK and 133,000 outside of the UK.

We support young people to continue their education, to secure employment and to build new businesses. We do this through our Education, Employment and Enterprise programmes.

Education

We help children to re-engage with their learning in school and to develop their social skills and understanding of the world of work.

Employment

Working with employers, we enable young people to gain the skills and work experience they need to access employment.

Enterprise

We offer young people the opportunity to explore starting their own business, through mentoring, training and funding.

Our Research

Future of Work

Since 2021, we have published a series of new research about the future of work for young people around the world. We are grateful to HSBC Holdings plc for supporting this research.

Our research has so far highlighted three core challenges facing young people:

  • A skills gap – young people say they are leaving education without the skills they need to thrive in the workplace.
  • An experience gap – young people tell us they lack the work experience necessary to secure employment.
  • A jobs gap – there are too few decent entry-level jobs for young people.

Our work with young people addresses these challenges:

  • Our Education programmes equip young people with the personal, social and employability skills they need for the modern workplace.
  • Over 70% of the young people who participate in our Employment and Enterprise programmes move into employment, self-employment, further training or volunteering.
  • We work with employer partners to support young people into secure, sustainable jobs.
